The Idea

Understand and map what is important to young people and what positively influences their potential. Use these to build a future looking Youth Potential Index which informs the planning of services and infrastructure in places.

The Problem

Most indexes focus on the past or the present, this focuses on the future. Think 3 horizons, this is focused on the 3rd horizon. Services and especially planning rules are mostly influenced by immediacy and old economic ideas. What if we designed for young people and their potential

How It Could Work

We map what is important to young people, in both a geographic sense and a question based approach. Using our neighbourhood mapping approach we build maps from young people's perspectives. We use existing datasets to compliment, what works etc, to match importance, proximity, impact.

Challenges

Short term thinking, planning and service design
