The Idea

Creating and distributing a fund for ideas. Kind of a cross between participatory grant making and crowd funding. Ideas are chosen by the community, funds come from the community and maybe exisiting philanthropy. We support innovative ideas to become reality.

The Problem

I think it relates to a lot of group think and ideas propagating due to the person or reputation rather than the idea itself. I'd hope ideas could be chosen on their own merit, and chosen by a collective.

Benefits

Newer, fresher ideas. Moving away from who you know, to what is the idea. Hopefully amplifying good ideas.

How It Could Work

We use Openideas.uk as the infrastructure. Ideas continue to be crowd sourced openly, but we also allow users to vote or choose an idea as part of a funding round. Users could also contribute or pledge to a central fund to be distributed, or specific ideas if they would prefer

What's Stopping This

Time, money, just the usual! I've pretty much got the tech figured out, but generating interest in building the fund and also considering all the ethical considerations.
